More Internet, ten trends for the company in 2012

Internet opens the door to a different world in business. Not just about having or not having a website but the possibilities offered by this tool for our daily work. I have worked in companies that limit the use of the Internet to their workers, but I think the trend for business in 2012 should be another. More Internet, a more open and accountable access to be more productive.

internet

The reasons to limit access of employees from one company to the Internet are varied. Security and access to pages that may cause damage to our systems and affect business continuity, is one of the reasons. This also relates to the use of the Internet for purposes other than work, more personal work, and finally with the use of the network as a procrastinator element that distracts users from their duties.

Finally we can say that Internet abuse or misuse of the tool can affect the communications of the company, especially if there are no priorities in traffic leaving, so that ultimately the ERP which is the heart of our business is slow because someone is watching an HD video of a funny cat singing a Christmas carol.

The basic user training is

All these aspects can be solved with the willingness of workers and the company, but especially with a good training by users. Understand that we can not use the Internet as we would in our house, which is a working tool and have free access although there are some boundaries that should make common sense .

It is in this respect, common sense where training is needed. It’s okay to check our bank balance, but it is not acceptable to perform download, view streaming television series or pretend to be online all day talking to chat with Facebook friends. Moreover, all these issues should be no interruption of our work.

Definitely a good use of the Internet without limitations lead us to be more productive. We use the network as a drain to decompress the attention of our work on any personal matter for five minutes, then return to be concentrated to the utmost for another twenty-five, so that by day’s end the work we have brought forward compensated with much these minutes “lost.”

The network monitoring and Internet access

 Internet access

It should be able to detect whether abuses are occurring. For this, the traffic monitoring is essential. Knowing which pages are visited, for how long and especially since IP Office to identify the computer station and the user performing the action. Thus we have the ability to measure whether we are making good use of the Internet. But if we are working well.

And attention if it occurs otherwise. In this respect the “one size fits all” does not seem a good idea. Not good for users who use the Internet a good end with limited access because someone has been abused. The ads are more effective if individual than collective, and if accompanied by a report of better access.

Internet as a tool

Because Internet saves us work, helps us in many tasks in our jobs and everything is a source troubleshooting information or tell us what is the best way to perform a specific task which is a shame to lose this capacity. Companies that take advantage of the end they know they get to be more productive and more competitive.

The comparison is sometimes put email. It is true that often abused e-mail to communicate personal or recreational purposes. Sure we get more presentations with jokes or jokes that work, but we are not going to return to send letters by mail or fax to communicate back. A judicious use of the tool is appropriate.

The challenge is to have a tool like the Internet available throughout the world and learn to make good use of it. Without compromising security, without which we serve as a time-wasting or collapse without our communications. At the end everyone wins, this is the question. Win business and win workers.
